From September 2025 onwards, the Master of Political Engineering will evolve to focus on the study of data and artificial intelligence related to decision making in the economic field. It will thus be renamed "Master of Economics, Data and Decision Science".

Aim

The Master's in Economics, Data, and Decision Science is a comprehensive two-year program offering rigorous training in economic analysis. The program, fully taught in English, combines theoretical economics, applied economics, and machine learning methods for economics. Supported by the GATE Lyon Saint-Etienne CNRS research laboratory, the program benefits from the expertise of research professors, particularly in the fields of game theory, social choice, and public policy evaluation. A strong background in economics or applied mathematics is required. Upon graduation, students can pursue a PhD in economics or embark on their professional careers as economists or data scientists, either in France or internationally.

Who is it for?

  • Students who have completed the first year of a master’s programme and have a good level in economic theory and/or mathematical modelling.
  • Students with an economic science background who have sound skills in quantitative techniques.
  • Students with a background in mathematics and/or computer science applied to the social sciences.
  • Students with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics or Computer Science and who are interested in broadening their studies to the social sciences.
