The Eiffel Scholarship Program of Excellence
The Eiffel scholarship program is a tool developed by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French institutions of higher education to attract the best foreign students for master's and doctoral programs.
Saint-Etienne School of Economics (SE²) accepts, supports and submits the application to Campus France.
The call for applications for 2023 (academic year 2023/24) is open.
Eligibility criteria
Master's level scholarship: foreign students 25 years old or younger (born after March 1997) in Master's or Engineering studies in the following fields
- Sciences and techniques: Biology and health, Ecological transition, Mathematics and digital, Engineering sciences
- Humanities and social sciences: History, French language and civilization, Law, Political science, Economics and management
You must be a first-time applicant (cannot be combined with another French government scholarship). Please note that students already in France are no longer eligible for this scholarship.
Doctoral scholarship: foreign doctoral student aged 30 or less (born after March 1992) for a first year of thesis in co-supervision or co-direction, in the following fields
- Science and technology: Biology and health, Ecological transition, Mathematics and digital technology, Engineering sciences
- Humanities and social sciences: History, French language and civilization, Law, Political science, Economics and management
You must be a first-time applicant (cannot be combined with another French government scholarship).

Duration of the scholarship
Master's program: the Eiffel scholarship is awarded for a period of :
- 12 months maximum for a Master 2 registration
- 24 months maximum for a Master 1 registration
- 36 months for the preparation of an engineering degree
Doctorate section: the Eiffel scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 18 months (divisible into stays of at least 6 months with justification and decision of the commission).
Amount of the scholarship
- Doctorate level : monthly allowance of 1 700 € (since January 1st 2021).
- Master's level : monthly allowance of 1 181 €.
How to apply ?
STEP 1 : Check your eligibility by reading the Campus France Application Guide.
STEP 2: Select your program :
For the Master's program, choose a program offered at Saint-Etienne Scholl of Economics (SE²): Master's in Economic Analysis and Policy (Territorial Development Consulting, Data Science & Innovation Management, Political Engineering)
For the PhD program, you must apply in the first year of your thesis and be in the process of obtaining a co-supervision or co-direction and provide the co-supervision agreement or a certificate of co-supervision signed by the French and foreign parties or any document attesting to the co-supervision / co-direction project.

STEP 4 : Fill in the application form to be downloaded below, and send it with your application file before December 13, 2022, at 11:59 pm to se2 @ univ-st-etienne.fr

Incomplete applications, applications sent after the deadline or applications that do not follow the procedure will not be considered and applicants will not receive a response.
APPLICATION TIMETABLE :
- Application deadline : Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 11:59 pm. This date is different from the one indicated on the Campus France website (January 10, 2023) to allow for the preparation of selected applications.
- Applicants pre-selected by Saint-Etienne School of Economics (SE²) will be contacted by email on Wednesday December 21, 2021. If you are not contacted by this date, it means that Saint-Etienne School of Economics (SE²) has not selected your application for the Eiffel scholarship.
- Publication of the results (for the students pre-selected by Saint-Etienne School of Economics (SE²) : in the week of April 3rd 2022 on the Campus France website (link).
French government grants
These grants (also awarded by the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs) are awarded through the network of French embassies and the Campus France offices.

Specific scholarships awarded by the Saint-Étienne School of Economics
- Incoming mobility grants
SE² awards scholarships for international students (€600 per month over 10 months). These scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence. To apply, the student must first have been accepted into one of the school's training programs. Applications must be submitted between April 15 and May 30.
- Outgoing mobility grants
SE² awards scholarships (€1500 for the year) for students of the school wishing to go abroad as part of their training. To apply, the student must be registered in one of the school's training programs and have been accepted into an international exchange program to study at a foreign university. Applications must be submitted between April 15 and May 30.
