Admission

Students wishing to apply to the Saint-Étienne School of Economics (SE²) are required to follow a specific procedure depending on the chosen point of entry.

Students applying for admission to the first year of the bachelor’s programme

Applying from a French high school: application via Parcoursup. Choose ‘Licence Économie’ [Bachelor of Economics], Université Jean Monnet, Saint-Étienne.

Applying from abroad: selective admission via eCandidat or Campus France agency. Choose ‘Licence Économie' [Bachelor of Economics], Université Jean Monnet, Saint-Étienne.

Political Science and Economics University Diploma: selective admission based on candidate’s application, once the student has been admitted to the Bachelor of Economics programme (15 places).

Students applying for admission to all other years (bachelor's programme Years 2 and 3, master's programme Years 1 and 2)

Via the Study in France platform for foreign applicants through the Campus France agency.
Via the eCandidat platform for all other candidates.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees are set each year by the French Ministry for Higher Education and Research.
Fees for French students (approximate amounts, based on previous years)

  • Bachelor’s: €180
  • Master’s: €243
  • PhD: €390
  • Contribution to student and campus life: €92

Fees for international students (approximate amounts):

  • Bachelor’s: €2,770
  • Master’s: €3,770

Financing your studies

A number of scholarships, grants and bursaries are available for SE² students.
For students in the third year of the bachelor’s programme and in the first and second years of the master’s programme:

  • Scholarships awarded for academic achievement for students in the third year of the bachelor’s programme who followed the integrated foundation cycle.
  • Mobility grants may be awarded to support students studying abroad.
  • Access grants based on criteria such as low household income (applications via the CROUS).

For foreign students:

  • Under certain circumstances, foreign students may be granted an exemption from paying international fees (if this is granted, they will be required to pay the same fees as French students).
  • Inward mobility grants may be awarded to support students from abroad.

Doctoral grants:
Grants are available for doctoral studies (PhD funding). The application for funding is included in the doctoral programme. There are no particular administrative steps to follow. The doctoral school selection committee meets in early July to award grants to the best applicants in the second year of the master’s programme.
